Paris, the city of romance 

An epiphany of love that doesn't last.

I remember an endless path of broken cobblestones,

And a champagne glass that emptied too quickly.

Cafe after cafe with macaroons and parfaits,

And a candle on the water that didn't go out for days.

We waited and we wandered, and we wrote about our dreams,

But it just wasn't long before our pens ran out of ink and our dreams faded into the hearts of tourists past. 

We came with a purpose and left with a broken heart.

We moved on and tried our hardest not to care, 

But Paris was a city before it was a prayer.
